Aloe Vera – A Simple Way To Boost Our Immune System

To start today, I am hopeful that you all are finding the immune boosting suggestions I have shared over the last couple weeks to be informative and or helpful.  As I write today’s post I have suddenly realized that I am now in my 18th year of clinical practice…crazy how time flies!! And when you’ve done something and lived it for as long as I have you tend to forget that information you may think is common knowledge or that everyone else already knows isn’t necessarily the case….and that is a mistake I have made that I will not make any longer.

Aloe Vera for Overall Health and Immune Boosting!

As we age our immune system, which is so vitally important to protecting our body, will begin to weaken (known as Immunosenescence). If our Immune System weakens then its ability to defend us will also weaken, allowing unwanted microbes, viruses, cancer cells, etc. to potentially grow and flourish.  As a result, our body can become more prone to various illnesses and diseases as we age making it even more important to employ not only immune boosting strategies but to also utilize the incredible age management (anti-aging) tools available to us (another topic for future discussion).

Aloe Vera is loaded with micronutrients, amino acids, enzymes, and polysaccharides, in fact, it is believed that Aloe Vera contains more than 75 nutrients making it a plant rich in health promoting and immune boosting nutrients!

One specific nutrient of aloe vera is Acemannan, a polysaccharide from the Aloe Vera plant that has been extensively researched and is considered to be one of the most biologically active and beneficial components in Aloe Vera.  It’s composed of the monosaccharides, mannose, glucose and galactose counted among the eight important essential monosaccharides critical to our overall health.

Molecular Hydrogen – A Simple Way To Boost Our Immune System

Many of you may already be using this as I have been strongly advocating for all of our clients to start taking Molecular Hydrogen as a part of their lifetime health and wellness routine. 

Why?

Coconut Oil – A Simple Way To Boost Our Immune System

I have long recommended coconut oil to our practice members, especially those participating in our Body N Balance Program, for years due to all of its wellness and health benefits, which I highlight below, but for now, I want to give you a very brief version of why Coconut Oil is so great for immune boosting.

Specifically in this time of viral fighting, Coconut oil will boost a weakened immune system by increasing the white blood cell counts in our body and help our body to directly fight viruses. This will happen based on Coconut oil containing two powerful ingredients that are phenomenal immune system boosters!

These are lauric acid and caprylic acid, both of which have anti-viral properties.

Proteolytic Enzymes – A Simple Way To Boost Our Immune System

Proteolytic enzymes, also known as proteases, include bromelain (pineapple enzyme), papain (papaya enzyme), serrapeptase (silk worm enzyme), pancreatin, trypsin and chymotrypsin (pancreatic enzymes) are essential regulators and modulators of our body’s immune system and it’s inflammatory response.

As a matter of fact, scientific research has shown us that the power of proteolytic enzymes to reduce inflammation is not only equal to but even more powerful than traditional NSAID’s and steroidal drugs, specifically Phenylbutazone (NSAID), Hydrocortisone (Steroid), Indomethacin (NSAID) and Acetylsalicylic Acid (Aspirin), meaning, these proteolytic enzymes appear to play an important role in our body’s immune system and its ability to modulate and support a healthy inflammatory response during times of stress.

In addition, and of particular interest regarding immune support, these Proteolytic enzymes are associated with important immune actions that create as much as a 7x to 10x increase in the appetite of our macrophages as well as the strength of our natural killer (NK) cells, both of which are lymphocytes (white blood cell) that participate in the actions of our immune system and play a vital  role in our bodies ability to destroy and/or digest foreign substances, microbes, tumors and virally infected cells.

Green tea has long been one of the most commonly consumed teas in the world and the science of its immune-boosting properties dates back to over 100 years!

Nucleotides – A Simple Way To Boost Our Immune System

Nucleotides are tiny building blocks of nucleic acids (RNA and DNA) which serve as the blueprints for all the cells in our body and also appear to be essential for nearly all of our body’s biological processes.

And now, as it relates specifically to immune function, research on Nucleotides is showing us that these building blocks are functioning as cell signalers and enzyme cofactors to help keep our immune systems strong and prepared to do battle when necessary.

Vitamin A – A Great Way to Boost Your Immune System

NOTE: The best way to get Vitamin A is through your diet.  Supplementing with Vitamin A should be done with caution and only in cases where known Vitamin A deficiency actually exists. Below you will see the best dietary options for Vitamin A and why strict vegans and alcoholics are at greatest risk of being deficient in this important Immune Boosting Vitamin.

For those of you that have taken control of your health with our Body N Balance program you have most likely learned the importance of eating good ‘Healthy Dietary Fats’ from the BNB program and how they play an important nutritional role for not only building healthy cells and making hormones but how these healthy fats are also needed for the absorption of the important fat-soluble vitamins.

These fat soluble vitamins are vitamins A, D, E, and K, all of which are vital to important functions in your body.  For example, vitamins A, D, and K will work in a synergistic fashion with each other and various essential minerals like magnesium, calcium, and zinc in the body.

Vitamin A Dietary Sources:

Vitamin A deficiency in the U.S. is rarely an issue and so taking Vitamin A supplements should be done with caution.  Instead, I suggest you focus on getting your Vitamin A from a healthy diet, including foods like:

  • Salmon

  • Sardines

  • Grass Fed Beef

  • Organic, Free Range Chicken Eggs

  • Liver

One last good source is Organic Grass Fed Cow’s Milk and Cheese….although many people have dietary issues related to dairy, even when from organic milk….so I suggest the others mentioned above as your primary source.

One last important note on Vitamin A is to understand that there is the immediately bio-available form of Vitamin A referred to as retinoids (retinol) and the less bio-available form of Vitamin A referred to as carotenoids (beta-carotene), which need to be converted to retinol by the enzyme beta-carotene-15,15′-dioxygenase, which is found specifically in the liver and small intestine.

And so, those with digestive related or liver related health challenges may have more significant issues with converting these carotenoids to the bio-available Vitamin A form of retinoids.

For example, the 2 groups in the U.S. that are most susceptible to Vitamin A deficiency – retinoid form – would be the strict vegans who avoid all animal-based foods and alcoholics that have liver congestion and/or liver disease.

Vitamin C – IV Infused – A Simple Way To Boost Our Immune System

 

With our emphasis being on supporting and boosting our immune system to handle the variety of stressors we encounter daily we have certainly been on heightened alert with this recent COVID-19 situation.

 

Over the previous 7 days I have sent you some simple ideas on boosting your body’s immune system so you can be proactive to protect yourself and your loved ones.
