My apologies for the long email today but wanted to share a few thoughts before you read the essay below….

Feeling young, healthy and vibrant seems to become more and more important for all of us as we move through life.  In other words, regaining our ‘Youthfulness’ feels more important to many of us after getting beat up over the years of being an ‘adult’.

My feeling is, a truly fulfilling life is based on our overall well-being and the ability we have or don’t have to do the things we love to do…whether its travel, go for hikes, play pickle ball, ride our mountain bike, walk the dog, go out for a nice dinner, feel rested when we get out of bed, watch a sunset or sunrise….just fill in what you love to do here.

Unfortunately, many people have been brought up to believe the narrative from the traditional health care community which is primarily based on the idea that because you or I are getting chronologically older then we should just expect to feel like s#%t (sorry for almost explitive) and expect the quality of our lives to decline! I must respectfully disagree here! I just turned 49 on the 17th of June and can honestly tell you that I feel 20!  And….many of you that I see periodically can say the same thing…which I absolutely LOVE!

I’ve seen so many people over the years that ignored their health for a large portion of their adult life and it eventually caught up with them creating challenges with chronic fatigue, joint and muscle pain, sexual dysfunction, digestive problems, weight issues and/or obesity, diabetes, heart disease, cancer…and the list goes on.

The amazing thing is, we all live in bodies that have an incredible ability to heal and recover from our past indiscretions and/ or lifestyle choices once we decide to put our attention back on our health and actually healing and promoting the balance our bodes desire to be in.

We now have absolutely incredible Anti-Aging and Age Management tools available to us that when utilized can literally turn back the hands of time for us biologically and metabolically on a cellular level….things we offer in our office like exosomes, peptides, nutritional IV’s, Body N Balance™, live source nutritional supplements, PRP, etc…can all make a huge impact on our sense of ‘YOUTHFULNESS’ and quality of life for sure.

However, an area that I have worked hard to be more personally aware of over the years and certainly much more consistent with in my daily life is my emotional and mental well-being, which in turn translates into my ATTITUDE regarding my daily life.

For my birthday this week, my amazing team gifted me a book by Mac Anderson called ‘The Power of Attitude’….I’m so blessed to have such a GREAT team and group of people to work with!

Anyway, I was reading it this morning and there was an essay by Samuel Ullman written in 1920 that was in the section about ‘Living in AWE’ that I wanted to share with you.  It certainly had an impact on me this morning as I read it and felt how it’s message really aligns with what we are doing here at Genesis to help our clients be the best possible version of themselves…..it reminded me of how important our emotional/mental health is, which can dictate our ATTITUDE about our life and our belief of either how blessed we all really are or the opposite, a perspective or attitude of pessimism and hopelessness….my wish for all of you is that you realize how blessed you all are!

Enjoy the below essay and have an amazing weekend!

Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions, it is the freshness of the deep springs of life.

Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite, for adventure over the love of ease.  This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20. Nobody grows old merely by a number of years.  We grow old by deserting ideals.

Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.

Whether 60 or 16, there is in every human being’s heart the lure of wonder, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station; so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from God, so long are you young.

When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and pessimism, then you are grown old, even at 20, but as long as your aerials are up, to catch waves of optimism, there is hope you may die young at 80.
